Membership

Co-Chairs: Carolyn Smith & Sue Sprayberry

It is the responsibility of the Membership department to maintain and encourage all interested and active membership, to gain new members and to emphasize the main purpose of the club, which is civic service.  This department keeps a record of each member’s attendance at meetings as well as hours contributed to projects.  It also guides prospective members in fulfilling their membership requirements.  It oversees the New Member and Officer Installation ceremonies.

Public Affairs/Legislature

Chair: Carolyn Smith

The Public Affairs department deals with crime reduction, safety, and citizenship.  Crime reduction includes work with local police, missing, abused and latchkey children, and prevention of family violence.  Safety encompasses drunk/drugged driving, seat belts, child restraint seats, as well as home, child, fire and poison safeguards.  Citizenship focuses on patriotism, legislation and community activities.

Since 1890, members of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) have rallied as community-based advocates on issues of national importance.

Today, GFWC's extensive grassroots network of volunteers works to extend the Federation's record of national advocacy into the next century. The Public Policy Department at GFWC Headquarters in Washington, DC, coordinates and supports these efforts.

Public Relations/Communications

Co-Chairs:  Lisa Rangel & Laura O'Connor

Publicity for the club: its service projects and fundraisers.  It is responsible for submitting articles and photographs to local newspapers and contacting TV and radio stations of upcoming events.  Publicity is also achieved through flyers, posters, and use of club shirts, nametags, and display of club banner.  In addition, the chairwoman prepares a Press book of published articles for judging on a State level.
