{"id":1756,"date":"2020-01-23T07:00:06","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T12:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/?page_id=1756"},"modified":"2020-01-23T13:47:30","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T18:47:30","slug":"gafe","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/superintendentsoffice\/gafe\/","title":{"rendered":"G Suite for Education and Other Online Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rutherford Public Schools will be using G Suite for Education and numerous other online resources during the school year.<\/p>\n<p>G Suite for Education offers free web-based tools that facilitate collaboration and communication among students and staff when creating, sharing, and storing documents, assignments, videos, blogs, wikis, calendars, etc. online. Each of the G Suite for Education tools can be assessed at school, home, the library, or anywhere with Internet access.<\/p>\n<p>The Acceptable Use Policy applies at all times to the use of District provided G Suite for Education accounts.<\/p>\n<p>The following are the most common tools available to each student and hosted by Google as part of the District\u2019s online presence in G Suite for Education:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Classroom \u2013 <\/strong>platform that integrates G Suite for Education account with Google Apps services, including Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Calendar. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mail \u2013 <\/strong>an individual email account for school use with restricted access.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Calendar &#8211;<\/strong> an individual calendar providing the ability to organize schedules, daily activities, and assignments and share\/collaborate with others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drive &#8211; <\/strong>provides web-based tools enabling users to store, transfer, and share files, and view videos.<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cGoogle Docs<\/strong>,\u201d \u201c<strong>Google Sheets<\/strong>,\u201d \u201c<strong>Google Slides<\/strong>,\u201d \u201c<strong>Google Forms<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>Google Drawings<\/strong>\u201d are web-based services that enable users to create, edit, share, and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, forms, and drawings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sites \u2013<\/strong> an individual and collaborative website creation tool.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Video \u2013<\/strong> an individual and collaboration video creation tool via YouTube.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, original student work product, including but not limited to, written text, photographs, videotape, film or sound recordings, presentations, etc. created by the student as part of a class project and\/or other assignment, may be published as part of a school-sponsored website, newsletter, and\/or visual presentation, and may also be included in the public news media and\/or published on public sites.\u00a0Such publications or websites will not be used for commercial purposes. Any work published on the Internet will be available to a potentially limitless global audience.\u00a0 All such work must comply with the published guidelines established by the Board of Education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students need to know:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will follow school policies for appropriate use when using all Internet-based services like Google Apps and various other online services. These services are considered an extension of the school\u2019s network. Students are responsible for their own behavior at all times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parents need to know:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Acceptable Use of Computer Networks\/Computers and Resources policy (2361) will be enforced.\u00a0School staff will monitor student use of applications when students are at school. Parents are responsible for monitoring their child\u2019s use of applications when accessing programs from home. Again, students are responsible for their own behavior at all times. The system administrators may have to examine files and email to diagnose and correct problems within the G Suite for Education domain and all district hardware and cloud-based applications.
