{"id":522,"date":"2016-08-25T08:00:20","date_gmt":"2016-08-25T12:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/rhs\/?page_id=522"},"modified":"2024-08-05T09:58:40","modified_gmt":"2024-08-05T13:58:40","slug":"english-courses","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/rhs\/about-rutherford-high-school\/english-department\/english-courses\/","title":{"rendered":"English Language Arts Courses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Curriculum documentation for core courses and elective classes\u00a0is located at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rutherfordschools.org\/curriculum-guides\/language-arts-literacy-curriculum\/\">Board of Education Curriculum page<\/a>\u00a0for English Language Arts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Grades 7 and 8 &#8211; Union Middle School<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">All students are required to take one year of English Language Arts for each year of enrollment. \u00a0Students may also be eligible to take accelerated versions of English Language Arts 7 and\/or English Language Arts 8. \u00a0In addition, students may choose from the following electives:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Digital Media Studies<\/li>\n<li>Got Game<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Pop Culture in Literature and the Media<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">The Musical on Broadway and in Hollywood<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Grades 9-12 &#8211; Rutherford High School<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">All students are required to take one year of English for each year of enrollment up to four credit years. Advanced English courses are also available. Eligible students may take up to four years of Honors English. Juniors may also be eligible to take Advanced Placement English Language and Composition while seniors have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition.
