The overall objectives of the Grades 6-8 Spanish course are to develop, reinforce and refine proficiency in speaking, writing, reading, listening and culture. Students will gain an understanding of how the language is structured and how they can use this knowledge to express their own needs and to talk about the world around them. Students will acquire a basic understanding and appreciation of the diversity of cultures in the Spanish -speaking world.<\/p>\n
Sixth grade Spanish classes are beginning level half-year courses, which provide more opportunity to practice vocabulary skills learned in lower school Spanish classes. Grammatical structure is introduced to enable students to begin producing Spanish sentences. The goals of the class are to learn Spanish vocabulary and to gain an appreciation of World Language. The students will have the option of taking Spanish, French, or Latin the following year.<\/p>\n
In the seventh and eighth grades, Spanish is a daily elective. Students who enroll in seventh grade Spanish are expected to continue in the eighth grade. The curriculum covered during these two years is equivalent to the first year of high school Spanish.
